Einstein's poetry

Theory of relativity (Special and General) When Einstein  published the special theory of relativity in 1905, he changed how time was perceived. Time is not independent of space, instead there is a continuous realm called the space-time continuum, that spins the fabric of the cosmos. The reason it was called the special theory of relativity was because Einstein couldn't incorporate gravity into his equations. The calculations would hold true but in a gravity free space. The faster an object moves, the slower time will run for it. Because of this reason, there is a threshold to the speed of any object in space (c). The calculation of speed of any object (including light) would remain the same irrespective of the frame of reference. After 1905, it took Einstein 10 more years before he could incorporate gravity into his calculations and publish the general theory of relativity, which would correct Newton's laws of gravity. The fascinating thing about the general theor...

Economic systems

The Wealth of Nations was written at a time when Adam Smith realized the value of specialization, industrial revolution was just starting and he saw that productivity was proportional to the division of labor and repetition of work. Workers would be handed specific tasks which would serve as an overall cog in the production machine. This efficient distribution of labor would raise productivity which in turn would have a positive impact on worker incomes. Greater productivity, greater personal income and greater national GDP growth. When the industrial revolution started, workers would get assigned to shifts in factories, and would have limited rights of their own in terms of labor laws. Although per person efficiency was high, the communist Karl Marx saw that surplus was not being redistributed among all laborers, leading to worker exploitation. This was the basis of his work, Das Kapital.  Marx not only gave to the world communism, but influenced countless other economic th...

Backpacking through Western Europe

Image
A series of cultural experiences put the fascination of western Europe in me. Some really interesting movies such as In Bruges , Midnight in Paris , the Da Vinci series, Euro trip etc. It is also the seat of so much of modern culture. It was the home of the great painters, Da Vinci, Michael Angelo, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, and also of musicians such as Beethoven and Mozart.  It also hosts the great automobile manufacturing houses of Ferrari, Lamborghini, BMW and Mercedes. All of this built a true appreciation rather than just the picturesque Swiss landscapes and Eiffel tower, that most European tours offer. I opened a map of Europe and marked the places that I wanted to see. I started with Bruges. 20 minutes in I was still at Bruges. I just wanted to see the old bell tower where Colin Farell and Brendon Gleeson had shot the film's closing scenes. So that was it. After that I used Google maps to see which places were the closest. Turns out Amsterdam was pretty close towards the...

Saudade

Saudade Of humid afternoons, and days gone by and nights in cold,  for what has been and what could have been,  of days when the morning was bright and the sun would shine, we would be left in each others arms and let time fly Beliefs The existence of a thousand lives before us, can not change what lies ahead of us, of what we believe and what we are told, we will gradually let go of, as we grow old Temptations Temptations take  control as we swivel and swirl, our senses guide us as we lay bare our souls, beauty, art and music are instruments that strike a chord, we search for moments of pleasure that make us whole Destiny My dream is to let my destiny unfold, and the dream is all mine, Beautiful eyes which live to tell a tale, have dreams of their own, Destiny will race us to a path which either entangles us or sets us apart, We think our inherent nature drives us to a future, but is it really that, Or does our humble and naive self casu...
